Items that are always on your desk: My wrists, post-it notes, a cup of water, iPhone, and a stack of old mail that is waiting to be opened.

What is your blogging story? What inspired you to start a blog? I first started sharing art and other cool pictures I that liked on my company’s facebook page as a way to keep people interacting with our brand, Eyesview Media. The response was great, and I noticed I was learning more and more about these artists and what they were up too. After a while, it started consuming our brand, so we decided to make it into it’s own thing. Our team pulled together, we designed and launched the Art Attacks site, setup all our social media outlets, and then I just started sharing as much cool art as I could find.

What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world? I’d really like to see people be nicer to each other. Some people are just born pissed-off and it’s really hard to communicate or collaborate with people like that. I think if we could all get along a little better, so many more great things would happen to us as individuals and as a society.

What’s something you know you do differently than most people? Even though I’m right handed I always try to practice doing things with my left hand, like write, eat, draw, or whatever. It usually ends up terrible, but just in case I get in a horrible accident where I have to lose my right hand, I want to be prepared.

Name one expensive thing that you bought and now regret buying? I went to the doctor and bought a couple pairs of glasses a few months back. Of course I never use them. I should have seen that coming…

What is your favorite body part? The eye is defintiely the most interesting and beautiful to me. It is our window through which we see the world. I think it’s amazing how it works and interprets the things around us. Plus, I’m pretty sure that without my eyes, I would not be able to do much for Art Attacks Online, and I certainly wouldn’t know about Sweet-Station.com!

If someone made a statue of you, what position would you choose? Can they make a statue of me high-fiving a grizzly bear? If not, then I think the classic Heisman Trophy pose would be cool. I would just have to swap the football with something a little cooler, like maybe a giant sandwich.

Blogger’s Corner: The Jealous Curator

Photobucket

Name: The Jealous Curator (aka Danielle Krysa)

Website: www.thejealouscurator.com

Items that are always on your desk: Well, on my super neat and tidy Jealous Curator desk, there is always a moleskin notebook filled with to-do lists, and an empty coffee cup… that I wish magically refilled itself all day. My absolute favorite item is a tiny painting on a wood block, by American artist Aris Moore. She was the first artist that ever sent something to “The Jealous Curator”. It’s a lovely piece, and it serves as a daily reminder of the amazing connections and relationships that I’ve made, just with a little blog! Oh, and in my insanely messy art studio (yes, I have a bit of a split-personality situation going on) there is always, at all times, something that’s fluorescent red {paper, paint, thread etc}.

What is your blogging story? What inspired you to start a blog? I’m an artist myself, and I was spending a huge amount of time looking at work by other people. Every day I was finding work that I absolutely loved. It was unbelievably inspiring, and totally soul-crushing all at the same time! How could I ever be that good?! It was exhausting. Right around that time, someone told me that if you keep jealousy inside it becomes toxic, but if you say it out loud, in a positive way, it turns into admiration… and they were right! In February of 2009 The Jealous Curator was born, and those negative feelings turned into daily posts filled with jaw-dropping admiration. Now when I find work that I love, I’m thrilled, because I know that I’ve got tomorrow’s post! I’ve also learned that there is a place for everyone that wants to be creative… it’s all so subjective, so if you love what you’re making, there’s a very good chance someone else will too!

What’s the coolest thing you’ve seen or heard recently? I just watched a documentary called “Liberia ‘77”. It’s about two Canadian brothers who lived an idyllic childhood in Liberia during the 70s. They came home to Canada just before decades of Civil War broke out. In 2010 they went back to recreate the photographs that their father had taken 30 years before, and obviously, found an incredibly changed Liberia. I cried. A lot. It’s so good, but I’d recommend having a box of tissues handy!

Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 how weird you are: Hm. Personally, I would say 4, but it probably depends on who you ask!

What is your definition of success? Oh boy. Ok, I’m going to be totally honest. I’m a major Type A so I have a hard time ever believing I’ve achieved success… there’s always a bigger goal around the corner. That being said, I do love how it feels to decide to do, or make something, and then see it happen. I really should stop and celebrate those victories a bit more!

Top 3 websites we would find in your favorites bookmarks bar: There are way more than three up there, but here are a few daily reads: Frankie Magazine ; sfgirlbybay.com ; Design for Mankind

Which super power do you like to have and why? Teleporting! Then I could just pop around all over the world on a whim! Dinner in Paris, Saturday morning on a Fijian beach… oh yes! Best super power EVER.

Blogger’s Corner: Supersonic Electronic

Photobucket

Name: Zach Tutor

Website: It’s an itsy bitsy site called http://supersonicelectronic.com

Items that are always on your desk: Artist notebook, which notes all the artists I post on SE; coffee; headphones; uniball pen; a book or two. Oh, and this damned contraption which is allowing me to type!

What is your blogging story? What inspired you to start a blog? I’ve had different types of blogs since before the word “blog” existed, I think. When Tumblr came along though it was completely different. I felt like, “wow, this is what blogging should be like.” Supersonic Electronic started off as a personal site but 3 years in I noticed that I was pretty much only posting artwork. So I took out every thing else and dedicated it to posting the best artwork by the best artists daily and it caught on I suppose. It’s certainly grown past anything I ever imagined it to be!

What’s the coolest thing you’ve seen or heard recently? The coolest thing I’ve seen recently was this film called “The Transcendental Man” which was all about Ray Kurzweil and the oncoming singularity and artificial intelligence. As far as the best thing I’ve heard lately it’s this album my best friend and I are really into by the Mean Jeans called “Are You Serious.” Definitely an awesome, awesome album. The new Spits record is pretty sweet too.

Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 how weird you are: I’m exponentially weird. I do something weirder than before every day and it usually ends with me thinking, “did you really just do that?” But I guess a long time ago I decided there was no turning back. Into the storm I shall goooooooo. But seriously. I’m weird.

What is your definition of success? Living forever in the minds of others.

Top 3 websites we would find in your favorites bookmarks bar: ffffound.com – Addicted to this site. Ultimate resource for awesome imagery on the internet. booooooom.com – Jeff Hamada’s curatorship of booooooom is remarkable. The guy has never missed a beat and is something all we art bloggers and bloggers should look up to. reddit.com – it’s not bookmarked but I visit it probably every 2 hours…

Which super power do you like to have and why? Is time travel a super power? It should be. That would be my super power.

Photobucket

Name: Arden (devourer of worlds)

Website: cfye.com

Items that are always on your desk: My internet banking device thingy, because we all know the interwebs is for buying! Other than that I’m kind of a neat-freak with my desks. I tend to throw everything around it instead.

What is your blogging story? What inspired you to start a blog? During my study in 2006 I got to meet Kaymir Stark, one of the most dynamic and inspirational persons I know. We hung out a lot in 2007/2008, roaming the streets with our cameras, something to smoke on and conversation for days. January 2008 we decided we needed to do something with all these pictures we had. We uploaded them to a a gallery and called it ‘crackforyoureyes’. It didn’t take long before we started getting feedback, got in touch with artists and got to meet all kinds of cool people from around the globe. From there it’s just been like a crazy drunken ride through a foreign country: We don’t really know where we are heading, the possibility of crash and burn is always present but *** we’re having a lot of fun!!

What’s the coolest thing you’ve seen or heard recently? It’s impossible to answer that question! We discover (or get discovered by) so many cool artists every single day, so I guess the answer is: check cfye.com

Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 how weird you are: A mere 6 I think. I might be kinda weird, but compared to some of the people I meet..

What is your definition of success? The CFYE logo ‘lasered’ into the moon, nothing less.

Top 3 websites we would find in your favourites bookmarks bar: (aside from your blog) Gmail, Facebook and Flickr.. I’m a social media addict. But as for more inspiring blogs I check on a regular basis are urbanartcore.eu, getgrounded.tv and sweet-station of course! Not to suck up or anything, but the post-quality, continuity and great vibes from sweet station are truly inspiring.

Which super power do you like to have and why? Only one? Instant transmission (teleporting for the unfortunate that didn’t see Dragonball Z as a kid)! And give me some laser eyes while you’re at it, time to get that CFYE logo in place!

Words to live by: Stop worshipping, start inspiring.
