For nearly forty years, Helena Almeida has developed a body of work that has found its source in exploring the limits of painting, transforming concepts and experiences in pictures. She often associates the photographic image in the layout drawing and painting imprint in compositions exploring space and drawing attention to the surface of the work. Her long career has allowed her to emerge as one of the major figures of performance and conceptual art from the seventies and was rewarded with participation in major international events such as the Venice Biennale in 1982 and of 2005.
