Born in Korea in 1963, Lee Jung Woong made a name for himself internationally with his series of hyper and photo-realistic “Brush” Paintings. Using Chinese ink and oil paint on Korean paper, Lee imbues a convergence of Eastern and Western influences – bringing abstraction and realism, motion and stillness all together on the same canvas. He continues to surprise the viewer with the extremely meticulous reality of his works. So real, people unwittingly try to ascertain if they are real photos by using a magnifying glass.
