James Blagden

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket James Blagden was born in Denver in 1982, and raised on comic books for adults and regular books for children. Upon graduating from university in New York in 2004, he worked as a professional illustrator for five years, with an international client list including The London Financial Times, Esquire Russia, Annabelle (Switzerland), and Japanese clothing imprint Uniqlo. His drawings have been featured domestically in The New York Times, Esquire, Interview, and Wax Poetics. In 2009, his animated short for “No Mas NYC Dock Ellis & The LSD No-No” won a jury-prize at the Sundance Film Festival. Since then, James has focused on animation, contributing to the Peabody Award winning ESPN “30 for 30” documentary series, and creating the title sequence for “Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest.” He lives in Manhattan with his wife Alma & their dog, Cherry-Bomb.
