I can’t quite point my finger to it but there’s something about Caio Fern’s paintings that really sets it apart from the rest. ‘ With a highly individualistic style of painting, Caio reveals the raw physical characteristics and inner tensions of his subjects which proposes an intricate set of perspectives of the “self”, is apparent in his self-portraits. Though Caio affirms that a self-portrait can only be considered as a visual reflection of himself, “There is no conceptual speech behind it,” he believes strongly that the only important thing is the painting itself.” ‘

bravo to caio- i think his depth is what makes him so unlike the others out there. his depth is reached by heightening his sensitive nature an empathy of what others feel on the inside and he shows those with raw strokes and color and paints they drain and strain out of the images eyes as if it were the last tears they shed before they gave up or gave out- kind of thing, like you hear there last breath. its so personal. You wonder whats there story? A time you may have felt like this? i know I have… It allows you to selfexamine parts of you that you wish no one saw you at..and are almost ashamed or haunted by it so you keep it tucked away in your mind until your reminded by that time… when you see there paintings and it reminds you that you thank god you never stayed there… Thick skin…. raw when blistered and sensitive to the touch. were hurt because we expose our self to the elements on the outside. We have a choice. you give in on the pain on the inside its like our body’s way of shedding old skin our old dermis is like a regrowth- this stuff is raw and real. It makes you feel all kinds of things… you didnt want to feel but do.
