L Filipe dos Santos

‘ L Filipe dos Santos (aka Corcoise) was born in the summer of 1978 in Portugal. He grew up in a rural environment but watched too much television and, through his adolescence, he developed his rural-hype self identity. Not knowing what to do with it, he searched for some way to express himself. So, by the age of 16, he started sketching. ‘

Very beautiful!
I like the “backwards proccess” of adding the colour first, then the details.

The first painting looks like you actually got some inspiration from the random colors and shapes in the initial paint session. The second however looks like you tried to do the same thing, but it didn’t work out so you decided to paint around it. I see no correlation.

I think criticism, especially harsh criticism is an expected and in my opinion very valuable part of making art, so, mitch i think you should be thanking robert rather than condemning him. Without it there is no drive to improve.
That being said I think that Filipe’s choice to make his own drawing on top of the colors rather than following what would make sense is what makes these pieces so interesting.

I agree with Robert. The second one does not seem to utilize the colours quite as effectively as the first one. A lovely concept and lovely pictures though.

Agreed, Robert is an asshole. But Travis is a fag, they don’t mean shit to you. They just look nice that is all.

The second one is better than the first because it isn’t so literal and paint-by-numbers, and the fools who think otherwise have no fucking taste.

The second one is simply a drawing on a colored backdrop. It does not utilize the colors or negative space like the first one did.

fantastic! i have been using a similar technique for many years without the “stains” by using a book or folding in half paper, but just by watercolouring first and drawing after.
your take is fresh and the illustrations are fantastic.

If you look closely at the third painting you can see two rabbits with antlers as two birds sits upon there antlers. But your work is very good.
